Little Book Chapter 10, “All the Wiser,” marks a milestone for Freddie Noe, eighth generation Beam family distiller and the creative force behind the Little Book series. What began as an opportunity to experiment beyond the boundaries of traditional bourbon has grown into an annual collection of distinctive American whiskeys. The tenth chapter celebrates the knowledge gained through years of blending, experimentation, and learning from generations of family craftsmanship. True to the Little Book philosophy, “All the Wiser” is about exploring how different whiskeys can come together to create something greater than the sum of their parts.
For this anniversary release, Freddie brings together six bourbon components from the Beam portfolio, including 14 year Basil Hayden, 11 and 9 year Knob Creek, 10 year Booker's, 9 year Baker's, and 4 year Jim Beam finished in sherry and toasted bourbon casks. Bottled uncut and unfiltered at 122.6 proof, the blend introduces a new dimension to the series through its cask finished component, bringing additional richness and depth to the mature bourbon foundation.
The nose opens with rich fig, raisin, and molasses, offering a dark, inviting sweetness. On the palate, velvety caramel and cinnamon unfold alongside seasoned oak, with the sherry cask influence lending a subtle dried fruit character. The finish is long and warming, carrying lingering notes of raisin, oak, and gentle spice. It's a beautifully layered expression that showcases both the individuality of its components and Freddie's evolving approach to blending.
For a pairing that complements its richness while highlighting the warmth of the season, pour Little Book Chapter 10 alongside our Maple Bacon Brussels. The whiskey's caramel and molasses notes complement the maple aioli and candied pecans, while its cinnamon and seasoned oak bring depth to the savory bacon and roasted Brussels sprouts. The vinaigrette offers a welcome touch of acidity, balancing the bourbon's intensity and creating a pairing that's rich, comforting, and perfectly suited to fall.
